Name of nonprofit organization: BE TELEIOS
Teleios: the Greek word (τέλειος) is used over 500 times in Sacred Scripture. Etymologically, we have the words “telephone”, “telegraph”, “television” derived from “teleios”. The Greek word means to send a signal (a person) to “complete” its purpose, meaning, its true identity. Jesus’ commandment usually translated, “Be perfect” (Mt 5.48) gives an inaccurate connotation for teleios implying “flawless”. Jesus is commanding us to be the person God created us to be – fulfilling our purpose in life, discovering our identity.
The mission for the non-profit, Be Teleios, is to help impoverished, physically and mentally handicapped, high-risk adolescents recognize the challenges they face in life and provide structures, resources, and mentors for them to move past their challenges into a mature adult life.
